Demister Pad Work Theory:
(1)A vapor stream carrying entrained liquid droplets passes through a demister pad. The vapor moves freely through the knitted mesh.
(2)The inertia of the droplets causes them to contact the wire surfaces and coalesce.
(3)The large, coalesced droplets formed in the mesh ultimately drain and drop to the vessel bottom.

Demister Pad Material:
1. Metallic Mesh Pads: Materials for metallic Mist Eliminators are as per customer need. Type 304 or Type 316 mesh pads can be in accordance with ASTM A-478. Monel mesh pads can be in accordance with ASTM B-164.
2. Non-metallic Mist Eliminators: Non-metallic Mist Eliminators shall be PTFE or polypropylene as specified in by customer.
Demister Pad Manufacturing:
A. Mist Eliminators shall be fabricated in one piece or in the minimum number of sections required for insertion through the vessel manway.
B. Mesh pads shall fit tightly into the pad containment system.
C. Mesh pad layers shall not be more than 9 inches (230 mm) thick. Where more than one layer is required, joints shall be staggered.
D. One-piece circular mesh pads may be spiral in form.
