Structured packing is a kind of packing arranged in uniform geometry in the tower and stacked neatly. The characteristics of the packing are that the gas-liquid flow path is specified, the gas-liquid distribution in the packing layer is improved, and more specific surface area can be provided under very low pressure drop, so that the treatment capacity and mass transfer performance are greatly improved.
There are many kinds of structured packing. According to its geometric structure, it can be divided into grid packing, corrugated packing, pulse packing, etc.

Through the packing, the two-phase flow is upward and downward convection. Gravity is the driving force of liquid flow, and pressure difference is the driving force of gas flow. The two phase flow is mass transfer and heat transfer through the two forms of film surface and spray. The mass transfer and heat transfer of the two phases in the plate column take place in the gas-liquid mixed phase on the upper surface of the tray, on the liquid layer surface of the downcomer and on the bubbling area caused by the mass transfer elements.
