Pall ring was invented by German BASF in 1940s. It was an improvement of the Raschig ring. The difference for the Pall Ring is the addition of two rows of punched and formed fingers. This adjustment provides a significant performance increase: the capacity and efficiency is improved and the pressure drop is reduced. Finally, the use of pall ring indicates opening pore type packing was accepted by the world gradually.
