Knit mesh demister position:

 

The mesh pad demister is installed above the surface of the liquid with some distance. From one hand it allows some space for the natural disengagement of the coarsest natural particles. From the other hand, it ensures that the gas/ vapour flow is uniform over the whole area of the mist eliminator

 

Knit mesh demister working principle:

 

The gas / vapor containing droplets passes into mesh pad demister at a predetermined velocity. It easily finds open path through the mesh but the droplets and mist impinge on the filaments of mesh where they coalesce and eventually grow to such a size to overcome surface tension of liquid and force of gravity. Then the liquid droplets so formed fall down. And the mist free gas / vapour passes through the mesh demister pad.

 

Knit mesh demister material options and reason:

Knit mesh demister types and description:

 

1) York 931 demister, mesh density 80 kg/m3. For a given load of mist, the highest flow velocity is achieved of all styles. Ideal where it is required to minimize the pressure loss, possible clogging is concerned, the size of particle to be collected is relatively large, and/or a very high efficiency is not required.

 

2) York 431 demister, mesh density 144 kg/m3. Used for general purposes. An efficiency of 98 to 99% is achieved at a velocity of 1 to 5 m/sec.

 

3) York 421 demister, mesh density 192 kg/m3. Used where an especially high efficiency is required. While a pressure loss is slightly higher, it achieves an efficiency of 99 to 100% with particle sizes 3μ or more at a velocity of 1 to 6 m/sec., and is ideal where an efficiency of 90% or more is required at a velocity of 1 m/sec. or less.
